A Day at the Beach

We took the kids to the beach yesterday, it was a perfect day! The weather was just perfect, there weren't many people there, and the kids were just thrilled with everything.

I was taken back to memories of my childhood when we would go to Taechon Beach on the Yellow Sea for a month or so each summer. Watching the kids playing in the waves, building sand castles, the only thing missing was the smell of salt water as we were on a beach at Lake Michigan and not a salt water beach. Oh, I love retreating to those precious childhood memories, and I felt myself instantly relax. Made me wonder what memories we're planting in our kids that will bring relaxation and smiles later in life.
So on that note, the boys just finished helping me set up the tent in the backyard and they are planning on sleeping out there tonight on their own. I'll sleep on the couch so that I wont be to far away if I'm needed. I'm not sure if they'll actually make it through the night out there, but I'm willing to let them try. It wont compare to our amazing camping trip we took last summer in Washington. But as a kid, any excuse to sleep in a tent is a grand thing.
