Today is the Indiana Primaries, and we have just been inundated with politics for the past several weeks. Several visits from both candidates on the democratic side who hope to secure the nomination--or at least still stay in the race. Living in Indiana people don't normally care what we think when it comes to the nomination, everything is usually decided long before it gets to us. So it's a bit new and fun to think that maybe our opinions matter.
Now, while I'm not a registered republican and would hate to pigeonhole myself as one, I've never voted for a democrat. So today the unthinkable happened. I voted in the primary, and even more unthinkable, I voted for Hillary!
While I could never vote for her in a final election, I decided to vote and vote for her for several reasons:
1. In listening to all the talk, the most recent debate, perusing the official websites for official stances on issues, I think that I have less disagreements with Hillary than with Obama. Out of the two of them I think I'd like her better for the job--just on terms of where she stands on issues. In the political spectrum I think she tends to be too polarizing just with the past and she can be sure to have a huge fight on her hands from the republicans if she did get elected. Some of Obama's positions frankly scare me, although he seems more likable in general, just seems like a good guy.
2. I just had to contribute to Operation Chaos (see Rush Limbaugh if you don't know to what this refers). What could be better than dragging out the democrats fight between themselves, having them attack each other instead of McCain and having to spend all their campaign money now.
On the other side I can't get real excited about McCain either, but in Novembers election he'll be the lesser of my disagreements I'm sure.
Now don't take this wrong. There is NO way I'll be voting for Hillary in the November election. But the unthinkable did happen today.

:) It's hard to get excited about any candidate right now, unfortunately.
I agree I don't really like any of them.
It seems like, at least since I've been old enough to vote, there has never been a candidate that I just really really liked. Was this the case for generations before us? Looking back at history, there are definitely presidents to admire and respect. So why can't I feel that way about anyone now?
