Look Mom no training wheels!

Skye had a fabulous day yesterday. His younger brothers bike had broken beyond repair last week and as both boys were set to need a larger bike we did the whole buy the oldest kid a new bike and then pass the others down trick. (I hate that since I was the 3rd of 4 children and remember the hand-me-downs, but money seems to take a center stage in these decisions, but I'm getting off the topic here). Last fall we had attempted to remove Skye's training wheels from his bike and he had been so freaked out and couldn't seem to get over it so we ended up putting the training wheels back on. But Skye's new bike we purposely got without training wheels.
He was so excited about the new bike that he said he'd try to ride without training wheels. I was nervous about how it would all go over, but he did awesome! Once David showed him how to start riding he just took off with no fear. After he rode up and down the cul-de-sac several times on his own he got off his bike and excitedly ran up to me to tell me that, "on my new bike I'm as fast as a rocket, I can go even faster than daddy can run. So daddy can't help me anymore because I'm too fast!" I don't think that he fell a single time in us taking the training wheels off, it was just fear that had held him back.
He couldn't be more proud so I thought I'd share a few pictures of him on his bike. Oh, and now Isaac is asking us to take off his training wheels so maybe I'll have a similar story on him soon. 80)
