Snakes!

Nicole was outside the other day playing with her big brothers when all of a sudden she ran inside literally shaking with fear yelling, "SNAKES!!!!" I quickly jumped up to go find out if there really were snakes in our backyard. Skye and Isaac were quick to assure me that they hadn't seen any snakes, but Nicole was still adamant and was truly scared of something.

David and I finally coaxed her back outside to show us what she was scared of. We didn't have to go far since as soon as we stepped outside she pointed down at the patio and yelled, "SNAKES!!!!" again. It took me a second to realize what she was pointing at--a plethora of worms that had appeared after a recent rain.

We tried to show her that these were just harmless worms, but try convincing a 2 year old of that! We finally convinced her to call them worms for the time being at least, but she still wouldn't go near them at all.

Now every time we step outside I see her scanning for "snakes" before she'll put a foot down on the pavement. Maybe we shouldn't watch the national geographic channel so much!
