You know how sometimes there is something that just makes the stress/chaos/fatigue of the day fade away. Well I discovered a new one of those. . . driving down the road listening to my little princess sing "You Are My Sunshine" just makes the world disappear and brings peace to my day. What could be better!
On a different note, I learned something from a friend about communicating with your kids as they play through the neighborhood. My two boys like to go down the cul-de-sac to play and were starting to disappear into backyards and homes and I'd have problems figuring out which friend's house they went to. After a couple groundings, they seemed to be doing better with letting me know where they were headed. But I was still frustrating at dinner time, etc. to have to walk down the street to call them in if they were playing outside.
So, I went out the other day and bought a set of walkie talkies. The kids were so excited about them (how cool can you get!) and now with a press of a button they can ask if they can go in their friend's house to play. Even better I can call them in to dinner, check on them, etc. without having to wander down the street or dig out the phone numbers for all their friends. It's working so well, I definately recommend it!
