We wanted to wish you all a Happy Valentines Day! We hope that you are feeling loved and cared about today.
Things are hard around the country right now, and we've been especially feeling that around here. President Obama came to town on Monday to hold a town hall meeting. Why would he choose the small town of Elkhart, IN for his first visit away from the white house? Our unemployment is up to over 15% and it's growing by the day as new layoffs are announced daily at local businesses. We have the honor of having the highest unemployment rate in the country, and people are really feeling it here. Now I must admit that my confidence in anything that Washington might do is not very high, and it's hard to watch those hurting around us. We've been feeling the economy too, but thankfully don't have to worry about being laid off, just decreases in income. I've struggled with the stress, frustration, insecurity of it all this week. But then I'm left feeling like the spoiled child afterwards-God has greatly blessed us, we are in a better position than most, and really we have so much more than we deserve. God has never left our side, He's always provided, and I know I can trust him to continue to provide for our needs.
So all this rambling to say, I hope that you feel loved today. Not just by family and friends, but by God. As we all struggle through these times together He is always there to lean on, comfort, and console and to guide us through.
